Gregory C. Whitehead practiced in the real estate group at Carney & Brothers, Ltd. and the real estate and general business transactions department at Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather & Geraldson prior to becoming a principal in the firm.

Mr. Whitehead has extensive experience in real estate development and finance. He has represented private developers, major corporations, governmental entities and not-for-profit corporations in a wide variety of real estate activities. A partial list includes shopping center development, affordable housing development, leasing, hotel development, and public use facility transactions. These transactions typically include negotiation and resolution of financing issues. Many of these transactions have involved multi-site and multi-state closings.

Mr. Whitehead also represents lenders and equity syndicators, particularly those in the field of low-income housing and historic rehabilitation tax credit syndications. His experience ranges from typical real estate loans to multi-tiered real estate financings involving private and governmental lenders and equity syndicators, including transactions involving tax-exempt municipal bonds.

Mr. Whitehead has significant lending experience in other areas as well. He has represented warehouse lenders in the mortgage banking industry as well as lenders in connection with standard asset-based lending, investor note financing, structured finance and multi-bank participation agreements.

He is a co-founder of the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms, and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Bar Foundation. He is currently a member of the American, National, Chicago and Cook County Bar Associations. He also serves as Chairman of St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.

Mr. Whitehead received his Juris Doctor in 1985 from the University of Virginia, and a B.A. in Psychology, with distinction, also from the University of Virginia in 1982.
